利益相关ucla和ucb都录了 2022fall (大陆没有排名的一所国际高中，非美籍，无绿卡)

学术上的地位ucla目前追不上ucb的

但是从学生选择偏好角度来看，见下图

现在数据好像变成51:49了

在百分之九十五的置信度下，两所学校选择率的置信区间有重合，说明没有显著性差异

两个学校是差不多的

但是ucb的学术和科研成就(相关奖项数量)是大于ucla的，在国内的名气目测大于ucla（有可能是因为伯克利音乐学院哈哈哈）在这样的条件下选ucla的比例仍然能与ucb持平，甚至不显著地略高于ucb，可能说明非学术因素上ucla大于ucb。

在讨论ucb和ucla的问题上，

1.ucb建校早，uc老大哥的地位是其历史底蕴决定的

2.学术上来说，ucla的学术至少正在快速逼近ucb，这一点的数据支持来自美国公立大学排名和usnews美国排名

5. 总之两个学校在美国人看来没有差别，想本科毕业直接回国的话ucb，cs相关ucb (eecs就业导向型的课程设置，cs专排和cmu mit stanford并列第一)，如果是那种专心投入学术，想要挑战自己，对生活条件要求不是那么高的选ucb，很注重未来在国内的就业光环选ucb，其余情况大多ucla会更被人喜欢一点

我最后选了ucla，因为想学医，ucla录的专业更贴近医学，再加上上面几点比较因素。

五、参加UC Berkeley暑期项目是一种怎样的体验？

谢邀～

2014年8月中旬从berkley参加完6个星期的暑校回来，自己，包括朋友在内的感觉都是收获很大，也让我还有我的朋友们都爱上了Berkeley这个地方，并且在接下来的申请季中都将它当作dream school来申。但是在这里我必须跟题主从一个客观的角度来分析这个问题。

首先说费用问题。

很直白地讲，summer school对于各大美国大u来讲的主要目的是敛财。因此虽然说有financial aid可以申请，但是基本上summer的学生都是送钱去的，因此水平也参差不齐。在费用上来说，我六周的项目是12k多刀，不过因为当时是跟着hk一个berkeley的团队一起过去的所以这项费用里也包括了食宿和机票。然后在这里要clarify一下的就是，我所跟的那个hk的团队与通常意义上的夏令营或者如新东方带队的形式不同。hk那个机构主要是一群ucb的毕业生所创立起的一个专门带学生去berkeley参加夏校的组织。因此也能给我们申请到住mmc，也就是一般给本校研究生住的那栋宿舍楼。在活动和选课上是没有任何限制的。

而值不值得这个问题，虽然说我和我的朋友们都没有怀疑过我们来夏校这个选择的意义，但是在这里我要跟题主很坦白地讲到一个问题就是summer里基本上是很难上到本校的教授的课的。大部分summer的任课professor都是本校外校的学生或者guest professor也就是我们说的客座教授。原因很简单，好不容易有3个月的假期，本校的教授们要么出去玩了要么也去别的大学做客了。我的course里有一门是mechanical engineering，我的教授是一个来自德国的客座教授。而我的朋友里有本校的phd授课的，也有stanford的学生做老师的。如果题主给上summer“意义”这一项的定义中有类似于“和本校教授建立友谊或者尽可能多的沟通”的话，那么这个situation是值得考虑的。不过也有相当一部分的本校教授在summer期间会留在学校做research，如果题主是一个很有专业能力的人，那么还是有很大的机会可以自己去impress到一个教授。在我的朋友里有一个hk的小男孩，年纪真的很小，才初中刚毕业就来参加大学生的summer了。但是他在计算机编程上的造诣很高，人也很聪明并且英语能力特别强。他选的human geography课被他很轻松搞定，因此闲着没事会自己跑到各种hall去旁听。在与一个教计算机的本校教授进行专业沟通后他的专业知识和技能让那个教授非常惊喜，邀请这个hk小男孩去他的office hour，并且一起做一个项目。

再回到值不值得这个问题上来，个人觉得在berkeley的这6周的意义不仅仅在于得到了学分，了解了校园，而是这6周让我提前的去适应了美国大学生活的节奏，并且认识了很多很多来自各个地方的牛人（ps summer基本上被亚裔占领了＝＝，真的超级多中国人韩国人。。。不过还是有来自世界各地的朋友以及本校的学生），也让我从对berkeley只有一个排名的映像到真正爱上这个地方。我的朋友中好几个在这6周后就一心一念地要读berkeley了。因此对于我们来说，这个时间和金钱都花的很值得。

其次再讲到语言分要求。

也要扯回到敛财这一个问题上来。既然是敛财，那么summer的招生就不能像收本科生和研究生那样实行高要求。研究生的summer的语言水平要求我不是很清楚，但是ucb本科生summer的招生要求就是berkeley正常招生的语言最低线，也就是toefl 80分。除此之外有一篇很简单的personal statement以及一封recommendation letter的递交要求。在本科招生中，80分的toefl这个成绩可以保证你至少具备了申请这个学校的最低条件，但是真正的录取分数是绝对高于这个成绩很多的，并且申请本科还有sat的成绩要求。而对于summer来说，就没有所谓那样严格的一个限制，只要上了80分的toefl，为了收钱基本上都让你进了。有一种没有官方证明的说法是summer的录取率是95%，而本科录取率是只有17.7%（us news数据

）。所有的summer school的标化考试录取标准都是学校正常招生的最低语言线。如stanford以及各大ivy league的学校如Harvard, Yale, Cornell, etc 还有那些前三十里的私立名校的要求也都是他们的语言最低线100。ucb作为加州大学公立系统一直以来采用的是80分的国际生招生录取标准，因此这个分数在表面上看来并没有对summer的任何特殊待遇。

Berkeley背靠山面临大海，与三藩市隔海相望，搭乘轻轨bart只要半小时左右即可到sfo。毕竟是名校，学习环境氛围都很好，虽然说比较curriculum会比较intense，但是这都是美国大学的特点了。校园很美很美。最后放几张图上来～
